This is my origin myth story

8-30

Today we did a bell ringer on what is a follower and a follower is someone who do something that they don’t want to do or trying to be like someone else. Then we read a poem call “We real cool” made in the 60’s. It’s about these 7 boys skipping school, drinking, sneaking out at night, etc. It was base on a true story by Gwendolyn Brooks. We answer some questions at the end of class.

8-27

Today we started our origin myth stories and I chose to do mine on humans. He gave us an example in class about a snake, a lion, and another animal but I forgot. It was very fictional and interesting. I want to do my story on a long lost sister are something like that. The assignment is due Sunday so I need to start on it.

8-26

Today we went over rules about keeping out masks up and you would think with us being in a pandemic for a year and some months people still not having they mask on or washing they’re hands. I think school going to get back shut down because we were changing classes, most of the students think that’s the opportunity to put they mask down to catch a “breather”. Some people don’t even come to school with a mask on like really? Anyways after that we started on are origin myth stories and I don’t know what to write about but I’ll figure it out.

 This my story from today

8-24

We did a bell ringer on what makes someone jealous. I said somebody can be jealous of they’re looks or what they have etc. Then we read a story called “The Jealous Father” and it was about a father who was jealous of his son because of how young and good he looks. Then we answered some questions about the text.

8-23

Today we did a bell ringer on what do you know about Native American culture  and their stereotypes. I put   Native American cultures across the United States are notable for their  wide variety and diversity of lifestyles, regalia, art forms and beliefs . Then we talked about what people think native Americans looks like vs. what they actually look like. Some stereotypes are that they all are the same skin color and that they all wear fur. Then wrote notes about living in harmony with the natural world.

8-17

Today we talked about what makes you American. I think what makes people American is being born in the U.S and working. Then we read another poem by Langston Hughes called “I Too” and it was an response to the poem “A Song of Myself” by Walt Whitman. The poem was about discrimination and how it would be like in present time. Like in the poem he talks about when company comes over he’ll have to eat in the kitchen instead of the dining room.

8-16

Today we did a bell ringer on moments from black history that were most important to you and I put Brianna Taylor because the killers have not been arrested yet. Then we read a poem by Langston Hughes called “The Negro Speaks Of Rivers and it was about the long history of the black race. In the poem he compare rivers to the human blood in human veins became they both flow continuously. The message in the poem was black people or not 2nd class citizens and black people shaped history. Then we started talking about our ancient roots and what African Americans were called back in 1600’s to the present day.

8-12

Today we did a bell ringer on why do people read. I think people read to increase their vocabulary and how to correctly use words. Then we learned about formal and informal language and examples of complex sentences. Lastly we read a story called “The House” which was about two boys skipping school and going to one of the boy’s mom house. Then in the middle of us reading the power went out in the school and was off for about a hour an a half.

8-11

Today we learned about components of a context text and how to comprehend them. Then we read a song by Tupac Shakur called “Resist the Temptation”. At first when we were reading the song I didn’t knew what it meant, but when we broke the song down it all made sense. The song was about the African American community, drug addiction, the devil, and so many other things. I never heard the song before but it was the first song I heard from Tupac with no cussing in it so I think that means something.

Introduction

My name is Ty’Ana Pough, I’m from Columbus, Ga and I attend Cedar Grove High School .I enjoy doing a lot of things but one of the things is cheer. I’ve been cheering since I was four years old and it’s always been my favorite thing to do. I also like doing hair, I’ve been doing it for about a year now and I can wait to get better at doing it. My goal for this academic year is to maintain good grades all school year and graduate with a decent GPA. After that, I want to attend college (I don’t know what college I want to attend or what I want to major in but I hope I will figure that out soon).
